Last year, Google announced plans to add a chat feature to Gmail to make it easier for users to use it for work and study. Previously, chats were only available to corporate users; now the American technology giant has started distributing the feature to all users of the service.

The goal of the developers is to turn Gmail into a "work center" by integrating into the service all the necessary tools that will allow users to perform various tasks without the need to constantly switch between different tabs and applications. AndroidThe Gmail application now has four main sections – new tabs Chat and Rooms have been added to the existing Mail and Meet tabs. In the Chat section, users will be able to exchange messages privately and in small groups. The Rooms tab is intended for wider communication with the option of using public chat to send text messages and files. In addition, the internal search engine can now search data not only in e-mails, but also in chats.

Apparently, the functionality of the new tools is identical to the Google Chat application, so Gmail users do not need to use it now. In the near future, the above-mentioned functions should also be available to users iOS and a web version of a popular email client.
