Samsung has finally unveiled its flagship smartphone for 2022, the model Galaxy S22 Ultra. This is by far the best combination of the series Galaxy With a Galaxy Note, because it is the first smartphone Galaxy S with a built-in S Pen, making it the perfect replacement for Galaxy Note 20, but also for the previous top model of its own series.

Brighter display and dedicated S Pen slot

Galaxy The S22 Ultra has a more angular design that resembles more Galaxy Note 20 Ultra than the previous generation device in the series Galaxy S. It has a metal frame, similar to Galaxy The S21 Ultra, however, uses the newer Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back instead without the plus moniker. Nevertheless, both phones have basically similar build quality. Both phones also offer an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Both phones have 6,8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with QHD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ technology, but the one in Galaxy The S22 Ultra can be much brighter, offering up to 1 nits versus 750 nits. Samsung has also improved the variable refresh rate, and its latest flagship phone can switch from 1Hz to 500Hz as needed. This means that the phone will be a little more economical with its battery.

Both models also offer AKG stereo speakers. Galaxy The S22 Ultra is equipped with an S Pen and a dedicated slot for it. Its latency is 2,8ms. So if you are fans Galaxy Note, you don't have to buy the S Pen separately, as was the case with Galaxy S21. Both phones are also equipped with a fast and accurate ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.

Cameras more or less unchanged

Galaxy The S22 Ultra has a 40MP selfie camera with autofocus, a 108MP main rear camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom. These specifications are identical to the model Galaxy S21 Ultra, but the new phone offers better image and video quality thanks to better software processing. Both smartphones can record videos in 8K resolution at 30 frames per second and 4K at 60 frames per second.

Higher performance and better gaming experience

Samsung's latest flagship smartphone uses an Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor depending on the region (whichever comes first). Its performance is higher than that of the model Galaxy S21 Ultra, which means everyday things, browsing the web and playing games will logically be faster and more nimble. Galaxy The S22 Ultra has 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256/512/1TB of storage. Galaxy The S21 Ultra has more RAM in the base variant, namely 12 GB, but is only available with up to 512 GB of storage (the 1 TB version of the S22 Ultra is not officially available in the Czech Republic). Both models lack a microSD card slot, so storage expansion is not possible on either of them.

Galaxy S22 Ultra will be updated to Android 16

Galaxy Out of the box, the S22 Ultra comes with One UI 4.1 with the system Android 12 and will receive four major operating system updates Android (up to version 16). Galaxy The S21 Ultra will also get four updates, but since it was launched with One UI 3.1 based on Androidu 11, it will be updated to a maximum of Android 15.

Batteries, charging and more

Both phones have a 5mAh battery, but Galaxy The S21 Ultra is limited to 25W fast charging. Galaxy The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, supports up to 45W fast charging. It can charge to 50% in 20 minutes and takes about an hour to fully charge. Both phones support 15W fast wireless charging and 4,5W reverse wireless charging.

Both these high-end devices also support 5G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 6E, UWB, Bluetooth, NFC, Samsung Pay and have a USB 3.2 Type-C port. Galaxy The S21 Ultra was equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and Samsung has updated its new phone to Bluetooth 5.2.

all in all

Galaxy The S22 Ultra has the opposite Galaxy S21 Ultra brighter screen, S Pen with dedicated slot, higher performance and faster charging. Samsung has also slightly improved the quality of the camera, but we will have to wait for the results. It will be at the same time Galaxy S22 Ultra updated for a long time. If those things matter to you, Samsung's new flagship smartphone seems like a really good upgrade. Of course, there is still a question about the price, but you have to answer it yourself.
