You'd be right if we say that Samsung has improved a lot in recent years when it comes to software updates. However, the new flagship series Galaxy The S22 still lacks the significant QoL improvements that na Androidhas been around for several years.

Website 9to5Google revealed that the phones Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 + a Galaxy S22Ultra they do not support what Google calls seamless updates ("smooth updates"). This feature basically divides the phone's storage into A/B partitions and "juggles" between them when installing large updates. For example, if partition A is currently in use, the update will be installed on partition B and vice versa.

 

Why Samsung didn't add this feature to its new flagship series is unclear. After all, the previous series didn't have it either, and the situation probably won't change in the future. It's possible that its absence has something to do with security measures on the devices, but without a statement from the Korean tech giant, it's just speculation.

"Smooth Updates" are useful for a couple of reasons - users can relatively easily roll back faulty updates without completely wiping the phone, and they can use the A/B partitions to dual boot two separate custom ROMs (which most regular users don't ).
