The S Pen is no longer just part of a line Galaxy Notes. In fact, this series itself was definitively cancelled. But she gave the world, or at least the world of Samsung device users, one interesting thing. But what is interesting is not necessarily useful. Here you will find a second look at whether the S Pen has v Galaxy The S22 Ultra really makes sense, or is it just a useless toy.
Last year, Samsung introduced S Pen support in the series Galaxy With a Galaxy Z Fold and this year put the final nail in the coffin Galaxy Note with model Galaxy The S22 Ultra, which not only supports the S Pen, but also has a built-in slot for it. And this is where the contradiction arises. If the touch pen appeals to the customer, he could have bought a Note series model, if not, he probably reached for the S series. Now he has no choice, even if he doesn't want the S Pen, he will just get it with the Ultra model.
The battery remains the same
Samsung successfully managed to integrate its S Pen into the device without any major sacrifices in battery capacity. Galaxy So the S22 Ultra has the same 5 mAh battery that the models had Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, if the company succeeds in the model as well Galaxy However, there is a question about the Fold4, which should also be equipped with a built-in slot for the S Pen. Or better yet, will the S Pen get in the way of improving the battery and other components of the u Galaxy From the Fold4 or other phones that Samsung will launch with it?
How are you? recently reported, the integration of the pen into the device does not significantly affect the size of the battery. Already with models Galaxy Note, it was estimated that the S Pen only takes about 100 mAh of battery capacity, which is negligible for such a powerful and energy-hungry smartphone. That's because this S Pen is disproportionately smaller and thinner than the one you can buy with the model Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Too many compromises
Consider that you are a Note series user and upgrade to the S22 Ultra model. Practically, you will get a successor to your device with everything, only evolutionarily improved and with a new name. If you are a user of the S21 Ultra model and bought the S Pen and the cover to store it, you will be pleased with the overall smaller dimensions and the S Pen in the body. Although you will have to get used to it, because it is, after all, completely different in size.
But if you are an S series user and switch to Galaxy With the S22 Ultra, you will get here, for example, a completely unimportant S Pen, which you will not find a use for anyway, and because of its integration, you are in a certain sense cutting back on battery life and performance. Yes, the 100 mAh may not be decisive, but what if the space for the S Pen was used by Samsung for more efficient cooling? That would be a different story, which would help more efficient use of the entire device, especially when it is under heavy load (playing demanding games).
For supporters of the line, the Ultra is a disappointment
The S Pen is simply not a vital part of the phone that most people would use. It's a purpose-built accessory, and if you don't find the right one for it, then its very presence might start to annoy you. Galaxy The S22 Ultra is certainly a great phone, but we can't deny that it's for flagship fans Galaxy S is a little disappointing.
The new pen was more or less imposed on them by the restructuring of the company's product lines, and from this point of view alone, perhaps it should have remained as an optional accessory, i.e. as was the case with the previous generation of Ultras. Why sacrifice the already limited internal space for a function that not many people use, instead of using it for perhaps more important but above all perhaps more useful functions?
Newly introduced Samsung products will be available for purchase, for example, on Alza
Well, I'd rather welcome a pen than cooling for games that don't play at all on the phone, in my opinion it's a good compromise, what Samsung did, I don't want to buy a jigsaw puzzle, it's unnecessarily big and overpriced for me 🤔🤔
Of course, it's about the user's priorities.
An unnecessary article, the pen does not commit to anything, so either someone will use it or not, the end of the article about nothing.
Thanks for the comment, but yes, there is at least the space for the battery that bothers me. Maybe also if it wasn't there, Samsung could raise the water resistance, etc. I understand what you mean with your comment, but it should be taken into account that the article tried to look at the matter from a different perspective.
I have an ultra and the new version with a pen is just a completely unnecessary evolution for me. Some poco has 5Ah today, I would expect a joke. At least he didn't end up in dxo like last year with 21u. So I see it on the pixel6p…
Switched from S10+ to Note20, wanted S pen. My expectations were different, the S pen is certainly a great thing, but I won't use it. Going back, I ordered the S22+.
I understand the content of the article, but I do not agree with the opinion that Spen should be an optional accessory like the S21 series. According to available information, the point is that the pen as an accessory in the case of the S21 lacks a useful function as a remote control. It cannot be used remotely as a controller, for example a selfie of a group of people. Yes, gestures work for that, but that didn't work for me on the Note. For me, they should have left the Note and the fans of the flagship models without Spen theirs.
Such an article can be written about any function. There is always a group of people who do not use the given function.
