As we informed you this week, Google is about to make a major policy change to eliminate all third-party apps that can record phone calls. After all, he has been fighting against it for a long time. However, app developers have always managed to exploit some loophole, which Google is now also closing. But there are still native call recording options.
They are offered not only by Google, but also by Samsung on its phones Galaxy, and for quite a long time. Is this new to you? Don't be surprised if you looked for this option on your device and didn't find it. This is because the function should be accessible when you open the application Phone, you choose the offer of three dots and you give Settings.
You will see the option here first Block numbers followed by Call ID. and spam protection. And just after that should follow i Call recording, but it is missing here. This is because Samsung does not make this function available in the Czech Republic for legal reasons. What the call recording interface looks like on phones Galaxy in other countries where it is allowed, you can view in the following gallery.
So, if you want to continue to record phone calls with your device, you're simply out of luck, because on May 11, 2022, all apps designed to do so should stop working. The only way out seems to be to use the speakerphone and record the sounds in the voice recorder application on some other device.
What kind of dilettante wrote that? The only way out? It is as if the author wrote that when our matches get wet, we will wait for lightning like in the Stone Age.
No, I'm not really going to record calls with another phone, just change the CSC code or upgrade the phone with an alternative ROM. Or go for another manufacturer, you need OnePlus (geo restrictions can be easily bypassed with it, the recording app is installed on every Rom, you only need to start it manually). When I bought the s22, I first checked if it could record..and it can.
So how about writing in detail how to do it rather than attacking right away? Consider that not everyone knows what a CSC code is and how to change it, let alone upgrade the phone with an alternative rom. Just because you know it doesn't mean others do. And if I already own a Samsung phone, I don't really like going to another manufacturer.
"11. May 2022, all applications designed for this should stop working"
Will they stop working like really stop working (google will push some update on the phones that will block them)? Or they just stop being offered in GPlay.
He is quite a difference…
I have contacted Samsung about this and according to the statement there is no native recording support but only a call recording app created directly by Samsung and this app depends on OS support Android similar to third-party call recording applications.
Samsung made its call recording application unavailable in EU countries, not for legal reasons, which in fact do not exist at all, see the description below in relation to Google, but only because, thanks to blocks in the operating system Android even the Samsung app doesn't work properly in the EU regions.
By changing the CSC code of the region, some "do-it-yourselfers" bypass that very block in the operating system Android, which only applies to some regions, and then the Samsung application is also logically functional, and similarly, third-party call recording applications would also work on other phones without any problems after changing the region.
However, Google screwed it up legally and it will probably have unpleasant consequences for it.
According to the Office of the Czech Republic for the Protection of Personal Data, the recording of calls for personal use is not contrary to the legal regulations of the Czech Republic or to the regulations of the European Union valid in the Czech Republic, and the recording of calls for personal use does not apply to the general regulation of the European Union, the so-called GDPR in in accordance with article 2, paragraph 2. letter c) of the said regulation.
This blocking by Google therefore has no legal justification both in terms of the legal regulations of the Czech Republic and the regulations of the European Union valid in the Czech Republic.
The Google company with the mentioned blocking of call recording for personal use in the region of the Czech Republic in the operating system Android discriminates against persons in other countries where the recording of calls for personal use is not blocked.
Thank you for explaining the issue. We'll see if it develops any further.
Notice about changes to the CSC code of the region + playback of some components in the phone system.
This is an intervention on the phone, which can also end up with a non-functional phone if there is an error.
Even if you succeed, there may be problems with subsequent updates of some system components.
I would not recommend doing this on new phones that are still under warranty, as doing so may void the warranty.
