It has been known for some time now that Xiaomi is working on a successor to its first flexible phone My Mix Fold. A now-famous leaker revealed some of its key parameters.

The device called Mix Fold 2, when the name should not really have the designation "Mi" anymore, according to the respected Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, will have a top-notch internal and external display just like the "one". Both are supposed to support a refresh rate of 120 Hz (in the case of the first Fold it was 60 or 90 Hz, respectively), while the main display will again be 8 inches in size and have a 2K resolution. The leaker also said that the Mix Fold 2 will be 8,78mm thick and weigh just 203g. Furthermore, he confirmed that it will be powered by Qualcomm's next flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip.

Earlier leaks mention a new hinge mechanism design that will allegedly allow the device to open in the style of convertible laptops, a 108MPx main camera, AG Glass protection, support for 5G networks or a 5000 mAh battery. Overall, it should be more of an update of the predecessor than a successor in the true sense of the word. The phone will reportedly be launched either in May or June, and its availability will likely be limited to China again, unfortunately.
