Huawei introduced the new folding smartphone Mate Xs 2, which is the direct successor of the "bender" Mate Xs from 2020. It will primarily want to win over customers with large displays and stylus support.

Mate Xs 2 has a flexible OLED display with a size of 7,8 inches, a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In the "closed" state, the display has a diagonal of 6,5 inches and the display resolution is 1176 x 2480 pixels. The bezels are really thin. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 4G chipset (due to US sanctions, Huawei cannot use 5G chipsets), which is supported by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal memory.

The Mate Xs 2 boasts an elaborate hinge mechanism with two rotors, which is designed to ensure the long-term durability of the device and which also leaves no visible creases on the display. Huawei also touts the improved durability of the polymer-coated display thanks to a new four-layer structure. This allows the phone to work with a stylus, more precisely with the Huawei M-Pen 2s. Mate Xs 2 is so after Samsung Galaxy From Fold3, only the second "puzzle" that supports a stylus.

The camera is triple with a resolution of 50, 8 and 13 MPx, while the second is a telephoto lens with 3x optical and 30x digital zoom and optical image stabilization, and the third is a "wide-angle" with a 120° angle of view. The front camera, hidden in the upper right corner, has a resolution of 10 MPx. The equipment includes a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, NFC and an infrared port. The battery has a capacity of 4880 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 66 W. In terms of software, the device is built on the HarmonyOS 2.0 system.

The novelty will go on sale in China from May 6, and its price will start at 9 yuan (about 999 CZK) and end at 35 yuan (about 300 CZK). It's not clear at this point if it will look at international markets later, but it's not too likely.
