After learning of Apple's plans to reduce iPhone order quantities due to urgent supply chain issues, the head of Samsung Display reportedly traveled to the US to meet with senior executives of the Cupertino tech giant and urge them to stick to the agreed order quantities. This was reported by the Korean website The Elec.

According to industry sources cited by The Elec, Samsung Display CEO Choi Joo-sun tried to dissuade Apple boss Tim Cook from implementing plans to cut production and appealed to him to ensure contractual obligations with Samsung are met, despite expressed plan to reduce the production volume of iPhones this year from 220 million units to 185 million.

Samsung expected at least 160 million OLED panel orders from Apple this year. However, Cook said at a press conference where he presented financial results for the past quarter that the company is facing obstacles in the supply chain that have a direct impact on the number of iPhones shipped in the future.

According to a representative in the mobile display industry, Samsung Display has informed through various channels that it can Apple to sue over the use of his patent in a competing OLED panel. Apparently, these are panels from the Chinese company BOE. But there are many unknowns in the whole case. Samsung Display does not deny the visit of its boss to Apple's headquarters, but it denies that anyone met Cook directly.
