Samsung, or rather its flagship division Samsung Electronics, maintained its lead in the top 500 Korean companies in terms of revenue. Its turnover in 2021 was 279,6 trillion won (roughly 5,16 trillion CZK). The website of the newspaper informed about it The Korea Times.

The leading Korean automaker Hyundai Motor, which is the main division of the automotive giant Hyundai Motor Group and which recorded revenues of 117,6 trillion won (approximately 2,11 trillion CZK) last year, finished in second place. The first three of the most successful are closed by the steel giant POSCO Holdings, whose sales last year reached 76,3 trillion won (just under 1,4 trillion CZK). This company improved by three places from year to year.

A total of 39 newcomers appeared in the new ranking, including Dunamu, which operates Korea's largest crypto exchange Upbit in terms of transaction value, or K-pop giant Hybe, which represents the popular Korean music group BTS. The first mentioned company finished in 168th place, while the second secured the 447th place. That Samsung remains the revenue leader in its home country is hardly surprising. Samsung is closely linked to the Korean market and jobs there are in high demand among locals. It is also of great importance to the Korean economy, with its annual sales accounting for more than 10% of the country's gross domestic product.
