Samsung has achieved the largest share of the global smartphone market in the last five years. In April, it was the best-selling smartphone brand with a market share of 24%, the highest since June 2017. This was reported by the analytical company Counterpoint Research.

This success was, unsurprisingly, mainly due to the phones of the current flagship series Galaxy S22 and more affordable models of the series Galaxy A. Samsung has not achieved such global dominance since April 2017, when its share was 25%. In front of your closest rivals, Applema Xiaomi, last month maintained a safe lead of 10, or 13 percentage points.

Several other factors were also reflected in Samsung's positive result last month, such as robust supply chain management, a healthy balance between supply and demand, attractive promotions in key markets including South America, or success in the Indian market, where the Korean giant became the first since August number one in 2020. Counterpoint analysts expect Samsung to maintain its leading position in the global smartphone market in the 2nd quarter as well. They add that it has great potential in the flexible phone segment, where it is said to be planning to lower the price to gain a competitive advantage.
