Supplying components for other companies is a profitable business for Samsung. Although he decided not to make his own electric carts, supplies key components to various EV manufacturers, including batteries and camera modules. Now it's out openly, that it will supply camera modules for the Tesla Semi electric truck.

According to Korean website The Elec, citing SamMobile, Samsung, or more precisely its Samsung Electro-Mechanics division, will supply eight camera modules to the Tesla Semi. The long-awaited electric truck was introduced by Tesla back in 2017, and after several delays, it should finally go on sale next year. Together with Samsung, Taiwanese companies and its "eternal" rival LG applied for the contract, but Tesla apparently evaluated their offers as worse.

This is the second time that Samsung has overtaken the competition in deliveries for Tesla. Last year, Samsung's electromechanical division won a contract to supply camera modules for Cybertruck, delivering them to the Gigafactory in Berlin and Shanghai. In addition, the division supplies camera modules for smartphones, but products for electric cars have a higher value, which allows it to increase profits.
