In the past year, we have come across several reports that indicated that Samsung is trying to become a camera supplier for the world's largest electric car manufacturer, Tesla. The South Korean tech giant has now finally put an end to speculation and confirmed that it is indeed in talks with Tesla. 

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Company introducedthat he is in close contact with the electric car manufacturer as a potential supplier of cameras. However, the negotiations appear to be preliminary and the tech giant was not willing to reveal any details about the size of the potential contract itself.

Samsung in its declaration confirmed to regulators that it continues to work on "improving and diversifying its camera modules". Last year, Samsung launched its first camera sensor for cars ISOCELL Auto 4AC. That same year, reports began to swirl that Samsung may have struck a $436 million deal with Tesla to supply the electric car maker with cameras for the Tesla Cybertruck.

At the beginning of this year it was different message indeed indicated that Samsung Electro-Mechanics won this order for Cybertruck cameras, giving it priority over LG Innotek. The latter company subsequently confirmed that it did not participate in the auction. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stated that the production of the Cybertruck is planned for mid-2023, but he also mentioned that this date may be somewhat "optimistic". Cybertruck was presented to the world already in 2019.
