Samsung's focus is huge, and if we were to list everything it does, you'd be reading this article by tomorrow. Somewhat illogically, there is one segment that he completely omits. In his presentation, it could be a huge gold mine, which, however, the company completely illogically ignores. Of course, we, the users, would also benefit from this.

Paradoxically, he does not even flock to this segment Apple and the only one of the really big manufacturers in it is practically only Google, when the rest are taken care of by third-party manufacturers. We are talking about smart home products. It was Google that bought Nest in 2014, whose portfolio is constantly expanding without killing the name itself.

Maybe because Google is more of a software company, it's generally not that good at selling hardware. Apple on the contrary, it is primarily a hardware company, but in its portfolio in the smart home segment it practically only has its smart speaker HomePod. Google is going further and apart from speakers it also has smart doorbells, smoke sensors, thermostats, routers, cameras, etc.

With Matter comes change

Although Samsung has its own Smart Things application for managing smart home products, it is designed for managing third-party products. It is rather surprising why a company as large as Samsung, which also deals in televisions, soundbars, projectors or home appliances, does not want to expand its focus on the smart home, which is predicted to have a bright future. After all, in a little while we will have the Matter standard here, which will improve the user experience of multiple products from multiple manufacturers within one application.

Samsung's user base is huge, and many prefer to own as many products from the same company as possible. If they have a Samsung phone, they probably also have a Samsung tablet, external display, TV, possibly even a washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, etc. It would be easy to complete your household with its smart solution and thus ensure trouble-free communication, connection and interconnectedness.

So far we're unlucky, Samsung isn't jumping in yet, but we'll see how the Matter segment takes off. It is precisely on this that Samsung is cooperating with is Applem, Google and other leaders in the field of technology, so maybe he is just waiting for the right time when he can officially present the new product line to the world. At the same time, Standard Matter should be launched this year.
