Google's Street View is an easy way to view almost any street on the planet in 360°, perfect for getting an idea of where you're going or just exploring the world from the comfort of your own home. While the Google Maps app has long offered an easy way to jump into Street View, for Android a iOS there is also a dedicated Street View application.

This standalone app served two different groups of people – those who wanted to thoroughly browse Street View and those who wanted to contribute their own 360 images. With the more popular Maps app fully integrating Google Street View and Google offering the Street View Studio web app just for those who want to add content, the company is getting ready to end the separate mobile app.

It is mentioned in the latest update of the Street View application, i.e. the one to version 2.0.0.484371618. In the announcement, Google says it will retire the title on March 31, 2023, and urges existing users to switch to Google Maps or the Street View Studio platform. However, one of the functions that is completely canceled with the termination of the Street View title is "photo paths". Photo Paths, which first launched just last year, was intended as a way to allow almost anyone with a smartphone to contribute simple 2D photos of roads or paths that had not yet been documented by the service. Unlike all other functions, there is no substitute for Photo Paths in either the mobile or desktop application. At least not yet.
