Popular navigation app Android Auto has been with us for more than seven years and has been working on practically all phones for quite some time. After quietly increasing the requirements this summer, it now appears that Google is essentially ending support for the app for older phones with a forced update.

Google quietly raised the minimum system requirements in July to Android A car, from Androidat 6.0 na Android 8.0 (Oreo). While this request for future updates is logical, it looks like the software giant is taking this a step further.

Over the past few weeks, some users have Android Auto noticed that older versions of the app show a pop-up saying an update is required to continue using it. According to them, the window won't go away until they update the app, preventing it from running on car screens. This seems to affect versions 7.0-7.7. It can be assumed that this is a change that is at least partially made in connection with the preparation for the release of a major update, which should bring a new user interface to the application (perhaps later this year) Coolwalk.

This change shouldn't be for the vast majority of users anyway Android Car problem because Android 7.0 and earlier made up less than 15% of the total distribution as of May of this year Androidu.
