According to a recent survey by IDC released via CNET, smartphone sales will continue to be low in 2023, with around 1,17 billion smartphones shipped worldwide this year, a 3,2% decrease from last year. This is due to current economic conditions around the world, but also to the fact that consumer demand for smartphones is recovering much more slowly than previously thought.
In that light, Samsung is moving in the right direction by focusing on foldable phones like these Galaxy From Flip4 and Galaxy From Fold4. According to the forecast, the share of deliveries of folding smartphones will increase, which could improve the Korean giant. Research Director of IDC Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers, Nabila Popalová said: “If 2022 was the year of excess inventory, 2023 is the year of caution. It also means that brands that take risks – at the right time – can potentially reap big rewards.” Although 2023 will probably not bring very encouraging sales numbers overall, next year sales should see a year-on-year increase in smartphone shipments of 6%.
