In the latest episode of the Made by Google Podcast, Google talked about the Circle to Search feature that debuted on the series phones Galaxy S24 and on the Pixel 8. What did it say about this topic?

Google said it "spent a lot of time thinking about what the fastest way to access" was because it said it knew "it could 'make' or 'break' a product." For the American giant, it was said that it was important that you could access the Circle to Search function from anywhere in the operating system. In the end, he concluded that the best way to activate the feature would be to long press the Home button. He said he started developing it at the beginning of last year.

Google also mentioned that "Circle to Search actually works with Lens technology." Among other things, this allows it to perform a visual search or gives it the ability to recognize characters on the screen (OCR).

Google has acknowledged that tapping to select (as with Lens) is faster than circling, but the team behind the feature is said to have found the circle to be "adorable". The search circle also accepts text highlighting or strikethrough and scribbles.

The company plans to further improve the Circle to Search feature. Among other things, he wants to add a translation feature to it or merge the search results pages with the Lens results page.
