Samsung officially presented the models of its phones Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra. All three high-end smartphones offer various improvements over their predecessors, however, if you own one Galaxy S21+, you should switch to Galaxy S22+? This comparison will answer that question for you.

Better construction and brighter display

Although they have Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy Similar design to the S22+, the latter has a more premium feel thanks to Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back. For comparison, Galaxy The S21+ uses Gorilla Glass Victus without the plus tag. Both smartphones have a metal body and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. They also use an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Galaxy The S22+ has a 6,6-inch display, which is slightly smaller than the 6,7-inch display Galaxy S21+. The bezels are thinner and more even on the newer phone. Both devices use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. But the new model offers a better variable refresh rate (10-120 Hz) than Galaxy S21+ (48-120Hz). Galaxy The S21+ then reaches a maximum brightness of only 1 nits, while Galaxy The S22+ offers a maximum brightness of up to 1 nits.

Improved cameras

Galaxy The S21+ debuted with a 12MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 64MP camera with 3x hybrid zoom. Its successor retains only the ultra-wide-angle camera. The wide-angle one has a new 50 MPx, the telephoto lens has a 10 MPx and will provide three times optical zoom, which means that it should offer better image and video quality when zooming in. The result is better pictures and videos in all lighting conditions, no matter what lens you shoot with, even thanks to software improvements. The front camera is unchanged and is still a 10MP camera. Both phones offer 4K video recording at 60 frames per second and 8K video recording at 24 frames per second.

Clearly better performance

Galaxy The S22+ uses a new 4nm processor (Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, depending on the region). It should offer faster processing, better gaming and better power efficiency than the 5nm chipset in the Galaxy S21+ (Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888). Both smartphones have 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, but lack a microSD card slot to expand data space.

Longer update support

Galaxy The S21+ was equipped with the One UI 3.1 operating system upon its arrival on the market Android 11 and is entitled to updates up to the system Android 15.Models Galaxy The S22+ runs on the system-based One UI 4.1 interface right out of the box Android 12 and gets four operating system updates, so it manages to stay up to date for a year longer. Both smartphones have 5G (mmWave and sub-6GHz) and LTE connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Samsung Pay and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. Galaxy The S22+ gets a slightly newer version of Bluetooth (v5.2).

Charging and endurance

Galaxy The S22+ is equipped with a 4 mAh battery, which is a noticeable drop from the previous model, which had a 500 mAh battery. Despite the improvement in energy efficiency thanks to the new chip, Galaxy The S22+ may not match its predecessor's battery life. However, the new model offers a much higher 45W charging speed. According to Samsung, the Galaxy You can charge the S22+ to 50% of its battery capacity in 20 minutes, and you can reach a full charge in just an hour. For comparison, Galaxy The S21+ was limited to just 25W. Both phones offer 15W fast wireless charging and 4,5W reverse wireless charging.

In the end, it offers Galaxy S22+ better display, more premium build, more performance, better cameras, newer software, longer support for software updates and faster charging. On the other hand, it has a smaller battery and display.
