Some alleged specifications of Sony's new compact flagship, called the Xperia 5 IV, have leaked, which could become a competitor especially for the base model of the series Samsung Galaxy S22. Among other things, it should offer the next top Qualcomm chipset, up to 16 GB of operating memory and a high-quality rear camera.

According to a post on Chinese social networking site Weibo, the Xperia 5 IV will feature a 6,1-inch display with a high refresh rate (probably 120Hz) and Gorilla Glass Victus protection, an upcoming top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset (not an official name), and 12 or 16 GB of RAM.

The camera is supposed to be triple with a resolution of three times 12 MPx, while the first is said to be based on the Sony IMX557 photosensor, the second will be a "wide-angle" and the third telephoto lens with three times optical zoom. The equipment will apparently include a side-mounted fingerprint reader or stereo speakers, and the phone should also support 5G networks. The battery should have a slightly higher capacity than the one that was installed in the predecessor Xperia 5 III (its capacity was 4500 mAh).

At the moment, it is not known when the new Xperia could be introduced, but unofficial reports talk about the second quarter of this year.
